Changes to how you access VU Library - VU Library access is now primarily via its online resources and virtual services.

In the interests of social distancing and to minimise the spread of COVID-19, VU Library has made changes to the operational arrangements of on-campus libraries. In particular, VU Library’s onsite library collection areas will be closed from 30 March 2020.

Students can still access the following spaces for private study while ensuring social distancing:

  • City Flinders level 9
  • City King Learning space
  • Footscray Park Building P level 1
  • FTN Building T level 2 areas including Learning Hub space
  • Werribee Library Building 1, Level 1 (excluding library collection)

Article Reach - this service will continue, however, quite a few overseas libraries are not supplying. This service will be monitored


Ask A Librarian - will continue. Please view the Ask A Librarian hours

ocument Request Services - Effective 27 March 2020, and where possible, VU Library will supply electronic resources only, and any unfilled requests for books will not be filled.

Academics and graduate researchers are encouraged to contact their College Librarian to identify alternatives to requests that are unable to be filled at this time.

Holds - this service has ceased until further notice for all Victorian University libraries

Infringements - All infringements from the 23 March 2020 will be waived

Renewals - automatic renewals will continue

Reciprocal Borrowing - this service has ceased until further notice

Returns - Items can be returned to the following VU library sites which all have external return chutes - Footscray Park, St Albans and Werribee.
