Changes to how you access VU Library - VU Library access is now primarily via its online resources and virtual services.

In the interests of social distancing and to minimise the spread of COVID-19, VU Library has made changes to the operational arrangements of on-campus libraries. In particular, VU Library’s onsite library collection areas will be closed from 30 March 2020.


Article Reach - VU staff and students can now request items via ArticleReach.

Effective 25 May 2020, VU Library will re-commence book requests for academics, researchers and higher degree students only. Please note that not all University libraries are supplying items at the moment so some may not be available. Books or journal articles from the Footscray Park and City Flinders collections can be requested by emailing library staff at complete the request form for items for research or teaching purposes.


Library staff will contact requestors via the interlibrary loans email: Journal articles will be scanned and emailed.  The library will provide a postal loan service during Stage-4, COVID-19 restrictions. 


Holds - the holds service has been suspended.

Infringements - all infringements from the 23 March 2020 will be waived.

Laptops - the Library's laptops will be made available to students for an extended borrowing period under special circumstances, students can contact the Library to check laptop availability. 

Renewals - automatic renewals will continue.

Reciprocal Borrowing - this service has ceased until further notice for all Victorian universities.
